Your pieces. Our expertise. Better returns.

When you choose Lovett Store, you’re not just renting rack space to sell your designer clothing, you’re partnering with Jo, our Founder, who’s here five days a week, personally invested in your success.

Jo’s presence and unrivalled knowledge of brands and pricing sets us apart. Whether it’s a vintage Chanel bag or the latest Zimmermann dress, Jo knows exactly what it’s worth and how to position it for the best sale. This personal, hands-on expertise means you won’t be leaving money on the table.

But here’s where the magic really happens: Jo isn’t working alone. She’s supported by an experienced team, most of whom have been with us since day one. With their great knowledge of fabrics, designers and trends, they’re confident in helping customers find pieces and styling them to perfection. In the store daily, Jo and her team know every rack like the back of their hands. When customers walk in looking for size 10 designer dresses or specific brands, they can instantly direct them to your rack. This isn’t just good customer service; it’s your secret weapon for more sales and quicker turnover.

Step by step guide to successful selling

Ready to turn your closet into cash? We’ll show you the insider secrets to successful Rent-a-Rack selling – what works, what doesn’t, and how to maximise your returns.

How It Works Cards
Shop smarter. Buy the best quality you can afford

Smart shopping starts with thinking resale from day one. Invest in quality pieces - designer brands, premium materials, and timeless styles that hold their value.

Quality pieces = better resale prices

Fast fashion has poor resale value and won't appeal to discerning customers who shop at boutique consignment stores.

Presentation is everything

To get the best price, present items at their best! Bring freshly washed, dry-cleaned, ironed, or steamed pieces. We have a steamer for touch-ups only - not full transformations from scratch.

We can't accept: dirty, stained, musty, or damaged items
Style your rack like a pro:
  • Group by type (pants, dresses, tops)
  • Colour coordinate for visual impact
  • Feature your best piece at each end
  • Space items out - avoid the crowded look
Price to sell

Get the best price while ensuring your items actually sell!

BNWT: Just below 50% of retail price
Pre-loved: Depends on brand, condition, and seasonal demand

We'll advise if items are priced too high or too low - overpriced items don't sell.

Minimum price: $50
Top-ups & timing

Sold some pieces? Bring in fresh stock to top up your rack!

Top-up rules:
  • Max 2 top-ups per week
  • After 11am only
  • Text us first so we have your tags ready
Seasonal timing:
Winter coats won't sell in summer. Keep it seasonal!
Write short, clear & searchable descriptions

Write clear, short descriptions when you upload to Zellr. Keep it brief and always start with the brand first.

Format: Brand + Colour + Item + Size
Example: "Zimmermann Pink Floral Dress Size 10"

Brand and colour are crucial - they help us find your items if they end up on another rack or tags go missing.

Strategic options

Not enough items? Share a rack with a friend - you'll each get separate client numbers, tracking, and payments.

Strategic discounting:

Hold your prices, then discount in the last week only or last 3-4 days for maximum impact.

Apply 10-50% off via email, text, or phone call

FAQs

Your Questions, Answered

The reality of retail Like any retail environment, occasionally items may go missing or get damaged during try-ons. While these incidents are rare, we want to be transparent about what happens if they occur.

Our policy If an item is stolen, goes missing, or gets damaged, Lovett Store isn’t able to take responsibility or provide compensation. We know this isn’t ideal, but it’s standard practice across the retail industry.

What we do to help We keep a close eye on the store and encourage customers to ask for assistance when trying on delicate pieces. Our team is always around to help minimise any risks.

Drop-off made easy You’re welcome to bring in your garments any time from 10am on your booking start date. Just make sure everything is clean and freshly steamed or ironed – we’ll have all your tags printed and ready to go! If you have chosen full service, we will take care of everything, you simply drop your items to us.

Parking sorted There’s convenient parking right behind the shop in the council carpark, or you can park out front on Military Road.

Collection day – your final step On the last day of your 14-day rental, please collect any unsold items by 4pm (Monday-Saturday) or 3pm (Sunday). You’ll need to pack everything up yourself.

Why the timing matters We’re a bit like a hotel – when you check out, the next seller checks in! With limited storage space, we need racks cleared on time so new bookings can start fresh the next day.

Can’t make it? No worries! Just arrange for someone else to collect on your behalf. We totally understand that life gets busy.

Late collection If items aren’t collected on time, there’s a $100 per day storage fee. After 7 days, any remaining items become property of Lovett Store and will be donated to charity.

Your payout will be processed on the Wednesday evening after your rental period ends.

Our returns policy

Why we can’t handle returns Since all items belong to individual rack owners (not Lovett Store), we can’t manage returns, exchanges, or refunds once a purchase is made. When something sells, the owner’s account is immediately updated with the sale.

What this means All sales are final – it’s just like buying from individual sellers rather than a traditional store. We’re essentially the venue that brings buyers and sellers together!

Before you buy We encourage customers to try things on and ask our team any questions about fit or condition before purchasing. We’re always happy to help you make the right choice.

We will never accept fake bags, so the bags we sell will either come with tgeir original receipt or it will be authenticated though a third party service. Costs to authenticate need to be covered by the seller.

We offer two rental options: DIY or We Do It All. With DIY, you can rent a rack and handle the setup yourself. If you prefer convenience, our We Do It All service takes care of everything for you.

Ongoing rack updates as needed

Getting started You can book your rack right here on our website, or alternatively pop in store. You simply sign up to our platform Zellr, choose your rack option and start date. To confirm your booking you will need to make payment.  No bookings are reserved until payment is made.

Changes happen Life gets busy, we get it! If you need to reschedule or cancel, just give us two weeks’ notice and we’re happy to help. Unfortunately, we can’t offer refunds with shorter notice, and we may need to offer your spot to someone else.

What your rack includes Each rack holds up to 40 clothing items, 5 pairs of shoes, 2 bags, 1 hat, sunglasses, and belts. We can only accept accessories as part of a full rack booking.

Jewellery guidelines We love adding beautiful jewellery to our collection! We accept costume and luxury jewellery pieces, but reserve the right to choose which items work best for our store. Just a heads up – we don’t take fine jewellery.

What we can’t take Sorry, but we don’t accept swimwear, underwear, or sleepwear for hygiene reasons.

Keeping your rack fresh As your pieces sell, you can do up to 2 top-ups per week to keep your rack full. Just a heads up – we can’t accept top-ups before 11am each day, as that’s when new sellers are setting up and using the steamer.

Top-up tips Planning a top-up? Text us at 0450 499 846 when you’re heading in, and we’ll have your labels ready to go. It makes the whole process much smoother!

Hangers made easy We provide all the coat hangers for your rack – just use ours to keep everything looking consistent and professional.

Your item tags Every piece gets its own barcode tag that tracks your sales. These need to be attached securely to each garment using either the attached string (thread it through the brand label) or a safety pin.

Tag don’ts Please don’t attach tags to coat hangers (they’ll disappear!), around buttons, or through belt loops – we’ve learned from experience that these spots don’t work well.

DIY vs Full service If you’ve chosen our DIY option, you’ll handle all the tagging and hanging yourself when you set up your rack. Going with Full Service? Our team takes care of all the tagging and hanging for you – you just drop off your items and we’ll have everything rack-ready.

Pro tip The better your tags are attached, the less likely they are to go missing during browsing. A little extra care here goes a long way!

Once your items are on the rack, they’re committed to Lovett for the full rental period – no popping them off to sell elsewhere until your 14 days are up!
